Community members in Lower Pottsgrove Township, Montgomery County came together Wednesday night to demand justice for a teenager hit by a car and killed exactly two years ago.
"He was smart and just so generous, it was amazing. It was a gift of God to get him," said Maxine Bickings, a family friend.
Dozens of family members and friends gathered to remember Timmy Paciello, 16.
Timmy was killed at the intersection of East High Street and Sunnyside Avenue in Lower Pottsgrove Township, Montgomery County while trying to cross the road on November 12, 2012.
"Devastated," said Darlene Fogel, a family friend. "It is sad. He was 16 years old. There is no reason. He did nothing wrong."
Although two years have gone by, the memory of Timmy has not faded away. More than 50 people came to light candles and lanters and offer support to the family.
"It is really surprising to see how many people actually stuck through it with you," said Jason Paciello, Timmy's brother.
In addition to remembering and reminiscing about Timmy, the family wants justice to be served against the alleged driver Robert Sitler Jr.
Police say Sitler was behind the wheel of the pickup truck that struck and killed Paciello. He has been charged with vehicular homicide, a crime he served time for in Alabama after he admitted to striking and killing a county commissioner in 2004.
But for this offense, he has been released on house arrest. His defense attorney tells us Sitler was released because his trial was delayed and he was held for more than 180 days after the criminal complaint was filed. That is the maximum amount of time someone can be held under Pennsylvania State Law, unless their bail is revoked.
Still, the family is demanding justice against Sitler and wants this case resolved so they can come to closure with Timmy's death.
"I taught my kids to trust in the court system, trust in justice, trust in law. But now they are wondering why. I mean it has been two years and the guy is probably sitting at home right now, watching this, drinking a beer as this family mourns and it is wrong," said Fogel.
"It is not fair that we are suffering every day and he needs to pay for his actions," said Radeanna Paciello, Timmy's sister.
