A 22-year-old Monroe County woman was killed when the car she was riding in crashed into a tree Monday evening.
State Police say it happened around 6:20 p.m. on Weir Lake Road in Chestnuthill Township.
A car driven by 31-year-old Brian Petix was traveling north on Weir Lake Road when Petix failed to make a left hand curve in the road, police said.
Petix's car left the eastern shoulder of the road, hit a tree on the passenger side and ended up in the southbound lane.
Police said Casey Ann Hoffman of Saylorsburg was flown to St. Luke's Hospital in Bethlehem where she was pronounced dead. She was not wearing a seatbelt, according to police.
Petix, also of Saylorsburg, was taken to Pocono Medical Center for treatment of unknown injuries.
Police are still investigating the crash.
