Balloons in Lower Macungie Township were released after a year of searching for 42-year-old Holly Grim. Saturday, Holly's mother, Jeanette Grim, was joined by neighbors and friends to re-energize the search and spread awareness of her daughter's disappearance.
"It gets harder and harder every day," Jeanette said.
Jeanette was joined by the community to send balloons with details of Holly's search across the area.
"Our hope is to keep the community together, to keep the hope alive, to bring Holly home," Holly's friend, Heidi Unterberg said.
One year ago, Holly Grim disappeared from her home in Lower Macungie Township. She left behind her cigarettes, her glasses, her car, her mother and her son. State Police say there were no signs to suggest Holly was abducted, or that she left on her own. Those details make it a tough case to solve.
Holly's mother is adamant her daughter would not abandon her family, and was taken against her will.
"I know I can't fall apart because I need to be here when she comes back," Jeanette said.
"It is very frightening because you always see these things on the news, and you hear about these things, but they've never been this close to any of us," Holly's friend, Erica Seither said.
Friends have organized grassroots searches, they've sold t-shirts, and now they're trying to spread the word through balloons strapped with Holly's identity and a plea for help to bring her home.
"I would tell her I love her and her son loves her, and we're waiting for her to come home again," Jeanette said. "I won't ever let her go."
While police say the case is still active and ongoing, Holly's friends and family say they will never stop seeking her out on their own.
