Albright men, Alvernia women off to strong starts

The Albright men's and Alvernia women's basketball teams came into this season completely opposite from an experience standpoint on paper. However, the starts to their season are nearly identical.

Albright entered this season expecting to experience some growing pains. But after a 3-1 start to the year, the Lions are on an accelerated learning curve.

Head coach Rick Ferry lost a core of talent to graduation last season, leaving him with only two seniors heading into the campaign.

That left him with a roster full of players that were young, raw and untested for the most part.

But after a strong early audition thus far, the Lions have answered some of those concerns already.

At Alvernia, Jen Sawyer's first season as head coach of the lady Crusaders is underway.

Alvernia is out to a 2-1 start in what should be a competitive year for the team.

The Crusaders have plenty of talent and experience returning.

Thus far, they've handled a potential distraction very well. That starts with Sawyer's prior history with the program.
