Shooting in Clinton Township leaves man critically injured

Police say one man is critically injured following a shooting at a home in Clinton Township, New Jersey.


According to a press release, the incident happened Friday around 11:15 p.m. at 57 Lilac Drive, Clinton Township.


Police say the resident, Louis Triandafilou, discharged a handgun inside the residence and struck the victim, Daniel J. Bearnarth, a 22-year-old Bridgewater Township resident, in the hand and abdomen.


Bearnarth was taken to a local medical center, where he was later flown to Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center for further treatment.


Officials say Bearnarth underwent emergency surgery and is currently listed in critical condition.


Officials say Triandafilou was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and possession of weapons.


Triandafilu was transported to the Hunterdon County Jail and was released upon posting of bail.


Police say the incident remains under investigation.
