Keith Olbermann has not been quiet about his disdain for Penn State.
The most recent clash was a response to a tweet about Penn State's beloved THON fundraising event.
A PSU alum tweeted to Olbermann "We are " and then provided a link to the $13 million students just raised for pediatric cancer.
Olbermann's response? "Pitiful".
As a result, Twitter erupted with angry alumni lashing out at the ESPN host and then ESPN announcing that Olbermann would be suspended from his show for the rest of the week.
Students at Penn State's Lehigh Valley campus had mixed reactions about Olbermann's comments.
"I feel like he should actually go on live TV and apologize," Junior, Megan Marzella said.
"I thought it was very disrespectful," Sophomore, Shannon Johnson said.
In a statement, ESPN called Olbermann's comments "completely inappropriate" and not reflective of the views of ESPN.
Prior to the announcement of Olbermann's suspension, he did clarify on his Twitter account that he was not bashing the efforts of THON stating:
"I said PSU students were pitiful. Had nothing to do with fundraising."
He has since apologized on his Twitter account saying:
"I apologize for the PSU tweets. I was stupid and childish and way less mature than the students there who did such a great fundraising job."
Penn State's Facebook page now suggests that Olbermann make a donation to THON.
