The cold temperatures have hit Berks County hard, making it difficult to do much of anything outside. That is why many people flocked inside to beat the frigid weather.
"I hate the cold weather, love the sun. So anything I can do to make me feel like I am warm again and get that warm sunshine weather," said Jen Boyer, a swimmer.
Jen Boyer hit the pool at Body Zone in Spring Township. It was her first time there and she says it was a great escape from the cold temperatures outside.
"I like it. The water is warm and it feels good," said Boyer.
Others were taking advantage of the indoor track.
"Last couple of days it has been pretty cold outside. You could wear a fleece and be ok with it. But today it feels 20 degrees colder all of a sudden," said Jake Leed, a runner.
Jake Leed told us he loves running outside, but the bitter cold is making it much more difficult.
"I prefer outside if it is warm enough to be able to run. But absolutely not right now. Usually inside is far better," said Leed.
And some took to the indoor soccer field. It was Andrew Neider's daughter's first time playing inside, something her dad thinks is a great idea.
"With the winter time, it gets cold, it gets dark out. The kids are not as active. I think it is a good idea that they stay active all year round," said Andrew Neider, a parent.
Unfortunately it is only going to continue getting colder throughout the week. So if you must be outside wear layers and try and limit your time outdoors.
