Ruckus Brewing Company says it will soon "set up hops" at the old Nueweiler Brewery in Allentown.
The New York company said its plans have gotten even bigger since it first showed an interest in the site.
Ruckus officials said they are are talking to prospective tenants for the property, hoping to turn it into a "foodie" destination.
Ruckus, brewer of Reading Premium Beer, bought the Neuwiler Brewery on Front Street in Allentown about a year ago.
Since then, Ruckus officials said they've been taking their time drawing up the redevelopment plans for the landmark.
"But our vision for the property, frankly, has gotten larger than just our brewery," said Josh Wood, the company's CEO. "Property itself, you've seen it. It needs a lot of work, but you know, we are excited to get in there, in addition to some additional tenants that we have been speaking with."
Wood said the development would allow Ruckus to brew its craft beers on site, but it could also include bringing in similar businesses, like a distillery and a business to fill the food space.
"And turn it into a little bit of, kind of a foodie destination," said Wood.
Wood said the bulk of the funding for the expanded vision is in place.
Issues being worked on right out now are who the new tenants will be, what role they will play in the financial end of things and what will be left to the developer.
Wood said the plan still includes roughly 115 on-site employees and $30 million to rehabilitate the historic 1911 brewery.
"We are trying to investigate the best way to undergo construction on the property, kind of a mix of fresh construction and rehabilitation," said Wood, noting that construction could begin in the third or fourth quarter of this year, and that Ruckus is looking forward to being one of the first projects to get underway along Allentown's waterfront.
