The provost of Albright College in Reading is taking the top job at Hood College in Frederick, Maryland.
Andrea Chapdelaine has been named the college's 11th president.
Chapdelaine started her Albright career in 1998 as an assistant professor of psychology. She was promoted three years later to associate professor.
Chapdelaine went on to serve as dean of undergraduate studies and acting vice president for academic affairs before being named provost in 2006.
"I cannot adequately express my gratitude to Andrea for her close partnership and thoughtful leadership as together we have brought Albright to a new position of academic strength and promise for the future," Lex O. McMillan III, Albright's professor. "During her tenure as chief academic officer, she strengthened the academic mission of Albright in multiple ways."
Chapdelaine, selected by Hood's board of trustees from among more than 90 candidates who applied for the position, will start her new job on July 1.
"Although I am thrilled to be assuming the presidency of Hood, leaving Albright, a wonderful community that has been my home for more than 16 years, will be hard," Chapdelaine said. "Albright has provided me with many professional development opportunities that will serve me well in my new role."
Chapdelaine said she will always carry the red and white -- Albirght's school colors -- in her heart.
