Robesonia's vote puts Western Berks Regional Police Department in jeopardy

The future of a regional police force that serves Robesonia and Wernersville is now in question.

The Robesonia Borough Council has voted to give notice that it plans to pull out of the Western Berks Regional Police Department.

It's a one-year notice, meaning the borough would leave the department at the end of 2015.

Robesonia officials said they are concerned about rising costs of funding the department.

They said they are open to trying to work out their differences with Wernersville, but no talks have been scheduled.

The department began servicing the two boroughs in 2010.
