Officials are investigating the death of a Lehigh County Community Corrections Center inmate who was found unresponsive in his bed.

At around 5:15 a.m. Monday, a 29-year-old Theodore Volack III was found to be unresponsive in his bed, according to a news release from corrections center officials.

Corrections officers called 911 and immediately began CPR in an attempt to revive Volack. Ambulance workers arrived minutes later and took over lifesaving efforts, however he was subsequently pronounced dead at 5:46 a.m.

"County detectives and the coroner are investigating the matter, although there does not appear to be any signs of illegal drug use or foul play; Volack had a significant medical history," the release states.

An autopsy was performed today. The coroner said the cause and manner of death are pending toxicological studies.

Volack, of Allentown, was transferred to the Community Corrections Center from SCI Graterford last month after serving 23 months for multiple burglaries. He was currently looking for work and an acceptable home plan for state parole purposes, officials said.
