A father and son are in jail after police said they were running their own methamphetamine lab in Lehigh County.
James Lloyd Jr. 56, and William Lloyd III, 25, of Slatington, are facing a long list of drug charges.
Police said an officer was patrolling the 300 block of North 7th Street in Slatingont around 5:15 p.m. Monday, when they saw a black 1998 Ford Escort, occupied, and with the motor running, parked in the driveway of a driveway on the street.
The property was posted with "No Trespassing" and "Private Property" signs.
Thanks to a prior incident, the officer was aware that James Lloyd had been evicted from the home and not allowed on the property.
The car's occupant identified himself as William Lloyd III, and another man who arrived on foot from the rear of the property said he was James Lloyd Jr., police said.
According to a police affidavit of probable cause, the car was full of tools and other property James Lloyd said he had taken from the the property.
The officer handcuffed James Lloyd and arrested him. A pat down of William Lloyd revealed drug paraphernalia as well as a baggie containing a white substance, police said, and he was also arrested.
Since the car was on private property, it was towed, but was searched before it was towed.
An inventory of the car revealed a black bag on the floor of the front passenger seat, which contained James Lloyd's driver's license, as well as a syringe, tourniquet, charred spoon, snorting instruments and a vial of unknown liquid, police said. A further search revealed instruments and materials consistent with the manufacture of meth.
According to court documents, the materials inside the car tested positive for methamphetamine as well as for numerous chemicals used to manufacture meth.
Both men were charged with:
- possession with intent to manufacture controlled substances
- methamphetamine production
- manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver
- defiant trespassing posted
- possession controlled substance
- use/possession of drug paraphernalia
They were taken to the Lehigh County Jail after being unable to post $100,000 bail each.
Each will have a preliminary hearing at 10 a.m. on Dec. 24.
