Mail truck plummets down embankment

Chandi.. that tractor trailer accident happened in the borough of Hamburg...the driver crawled out of the cabin with only a scratch to his face.... and met police on the street to give them details as to what happened. 16:44:44 >>Robert Mengle "That is very good, we thought it could have been a fatality but it shows now that his seat belt saved him and he crawled out of the truck and up the embankment to us." >>reporter The driver of this tracker trailer says he swerved to avoid a deer before losing control of the vehicle...and plummeting 80 feet down this embankment. It happened on Route 61 between Grant and Fourth streets around 3 am Sunday morning. The Southbound lanes of Route 61 were blocked off for nearly 8 hours as crews cleaned up packages and debris. 16:45:51 >> Robert Mengle "There are products that are damaged so they will have to get a hold of the u.s. Postal Service. And i believe the Post Office is going to alert them people that the mail was damaged." >>reporter The truck was hauling u-s mail from Harrisburg to the Reading facility for processing. The mail will be reprocessed in Harrisburg and then sent back to Reading. As a result, some residents will likely experience a delays in delivery.
