Jim Finnen "The National Association of Sports Public Address Announcers has a special designation for people who have done many games, and I'm a member of the 1,000 club. So the number is well in excess of 1,000 games that I've done at Lafayette during all those years." Finnen has had the opportunity to meet some great people over the years, including the longtime voice of the Phillies. Jim Finnen "When Lafayette played Notre Dame in January of 1988, Harry Kalas was doing the broadcast for Notre Dame.Harry Kalas walked across the court before the game just to shake the hand of the public address announcer.I was flattered to get that attention from him." After a half century of doing what he loves, many special moments are etched in Finnen's mind. Jim Finnen "That Notre Dame game in January of '88 has to be one of them.The great running backs, the tailbacks who ran for Lafayette is another one.The great shots, whether it was Tyson Whitfield or Bob Falconero.The appearances of David Robinson here.How about a double overtime win when Bob Bradley played for Princeton are just a few of those names and memories that come to the surface." And although college basketball remains Finnen's favorite sport, announcing his final collegiate football game at Yankee Stadium, was a great way to put an exclamation point on his career.
