Raub MS evacuated for gas leak

Some Allentown middle school students had an unusual start to their school day Monday.


A report of an odor of natural gas was called in to UGI near Raub Middle School at 102 S. St. Cloud Street around 9 a.m.


School officials said students were in school at the time and, following safety protocols, the children were taken to a separate safe and warm location.


Authorities said a small leak was found inside a water heater, and UGI crews are working on repairs.


The students were safely returned to class in less than 30 minutes.
