Tewksbury man injured in Christmas night house fire

Hunterdon County officials are investigating a house fire which occurred at 7 Boulder Hill Rd in Tewksbury Twp.


According to county prosecutor, Anthony P. Kearns, III, reports of the fire came in at about 8:00 p.m. Christmas night


Officials said a 58-year-old man suffered smoke inhalation and was flown by helicopter to the St. Barnabas Hospital Burn Unit for treatment.


The Hunterdon County Prosecutor's Office Arson Investigation Unit and the Hunterdon County Arson Task Force began investigating the fire last night, officials said.


Reports say the building was heavily damaged. Preliminary results of the investigation indicate that the fire was not suspicious according to officials.


However, the cause of the fire remains officially undetermined at this time and the investigation is ongoing.


Volunteer first responders from the Oldwick Fire Department, Califon Boro Fire Department, Fairmount Fire Department, Pottersville Fire Department, Tewksbury Rescue Squad and the Whitehouse Rescue Squad responded to the fire, which officials described as "dangerous."


The prosecutor commended them for interrupting their Christmas celebrations leaving their families to help someone else on Christmas day and all the other days of the year.


The full investigative force of the county are involved in investigating.
