Police are investigating a shooting that left a man dead in Easton.

Shots were fired at approximately 4:41 p.m. Monday at 10th and Ferry streets.

"It is a nice neighborhood, it is very quiet," Easton resident, Scott Lucas said. "It just seems like over the last couple months it is just getting worse and worse with the drug deals."

The victim has been identified as 28-year-old Raymond Nichelson, who resided in Orange, New Jersey, but also stayed in the 800 block of Ferry Street in Easton.

He was pronounced dead Monday night in Easton Hospital.

"The only thing I have to say is for the people out there that did it to him, you don't realize you took a father, you know, away from two little girls," Easton resident, Brian Mitchell said. "He was a good man."

Northampton County Coroner Zach Lysek said Nichelson was the victim of a homicide and that he died of multiple gunshot wounds.

Police are looking for two to three black men, wearing dark clothing, who were seen running from the area in the 900 block of Ferry Street and a dark-colored BMW or Jaguar that was seen driving south on 10th Street.

Police arrested a 16-year-old boy who was also running from the scene and found in possession of a handgun and marijuana, police said. The teen was taken to the Northampton County Juvenile Detention Center. His role in the incident is still under investigation, police said.

Nichelson lived in the 300 block of Central Avenue in Orange, New Jersey.

Police believe the victim was targeted and the shooting is drug-related.

Police ask anybody with any information to contact Det. Charles Leauber or the Easton police tip line at 610-250-6635. Callers can remain anonymous, police said.
