Christmas lights shine in memory of local teen

Christmas lights and synchronized music are all pieces of an elaborate display on Beach Street in Muhlenberg Township.

It has become a neighborhood attraction ever since the Strunk family started it in 2010.

"This is terrific. It is one of the best shows around I have ever seen. We come here every year. Every year it is different. It is great," said Lewis Costa, who came to see the display.

But this year's show is a little different. It is dedicated to Mason Kosmoski, 14. Mason was a lively Muhlenberg teen who loved to play baseball. But last summer, doctors found a tumor in Mason's bladder. After months of extensive treatment, Mason lost his battle with cancer on May 20th.

"Any parent to lose a child is just, we cannot even fathom it. It is a horrible thing," said Strunk.

Seeing the Lights at Beach was an annual tradition for Mason and his family. So this year his mom reached out the Strunk family to see if they would dedicate the show to him as her Christmas present to her son.

The Strunk family hopes that when people see this display they can think of Mason and walk away in the holiday spirit.

"Really we are just hoping we can spread some Christmas spirit and hopefully everybody will smile and have a good time," said Strunk.

You can catch the display daily from 5-10 p.m.
